• What are your school hours?

9:15am-4:15pm

• What zone does your magnet school serve?

Violet zone guarantees transportation, but we can serve any CMS student if a parent wanted to provide their own transportation.

• Do you have before and after school care?

Yes, but it fills quickly. We encourage you to apply early!

• Do I have to reapply again each year?

No, once a student is admitted into the program he/she is a magnet student through their 5th grade year.

• If Mallard Creek is my child’s home school are they automatically placed in the magnet program?

No, if you would like for your child to be in our magnet program you must submit a lottery application online.

• Do all students have to apply for the magnet program?

Yes, parents must complete a lottery application online. All current CMS students and newly enrolled future CMS students will be sent instruction letters with Student Identification and PIN numbers.

• Are there entrance requirements for the magnet program?

No, however please review the handout “Profile of a Typical Magnet Student”.

• Can my child be placed in the magnet program at any grade?

No, students are placed in our magnet program via lottery in grades K-2. However, students in grades 3 through 5 must be Talent Development (TD) certified. Newly enrolled students are not placed in the Learning Immersion programs in grades 3-5.

• What are the choices for middle school for students in the magnet program?

Talent Development students and LI students who score a III or higher on EOG's will be assigned to the IB magnet school within their transportation zone. This is based on their address. Learning Immersion students automatically attend their assigned home school if a lottery application is not submitted.
