Your daily schedule will be different from your elementary school schedule. Depending on the middle school you go to, you will have 4-6 blocks (classes) a day with different teachers for each class. You may have classes that are only on A days or B days. This may seem overwhelming, but remember the teachers, counselors, and even other students are there to help you adjust to your new school building and schedule. There will be staff, in the halls, to make sure you don't get lost.
Friendships are an important part of school. Some of you will remain friends with students from Lansdowne, yet moving to middle school gives you the opportunity to make more friends. Making friends in middle school can seem scary, you're in a new environment and may feel uncomfortable. This is a common issue kids face when going into middle school. Smiling, being the first one to say hi, and joining clubs and activities are great ways to meet new people and make friends. Be yourself and remember you don't have to have 20 friends, it's perfectly fine to have just a few.
Being organized is an essential skill that will help you succeed in life and definitely in middle school. With more classes and teachers you may find yourself overwhelmed, but being organized can calm your nerves and keep you on track! You can stay organized by having notebooks and folders for each class or a binder with dividers and folders. Using a planner/agenda will help you stay on track of your assignments. Don't forget the adults in your life can help you with being organized too.
In Middle School, you might have a locker. A locker can be a great place to store your books, binders, and notebooks. If you do have a locker, having a lock is important to make sure your items stay safe. If you are nervous about using a lock, there are videos explaining how to properly use one. Also, you can download apps to help you practice opening a lock.

In Middle School you must be in 7th or 8th grade to play sports, so unfortunately 6th graders cannot play Middle School Sports. However, there are many activities and clubs for 6th graders to participate in and some of them include sports. Each school has different clubs and activities so find out which ones interest you!
