MES School Counseling Vision
Students graduating from the Matthews Elementary School Counseling Program are kind, empathetic, life-long learners that possess the academic and social-emotional skills to contribute to their global community as critical- and creative-thinking leaders dedicated to being change-agents for the 21st-century.
MES School Counseling Mission Statement
The mission of the Matthews Elementary School Counseling Department is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program that provides access for every student to academic skills, college and career readiness, and social and emotional learning. We will remove barriers and provide equitable resources to ensure every student has access to their education in order to fulfill our School Counseling Program vision.
A Note About Confidentiality
In order to build trust, the information discussed in counseling sessions will be kept confidential, with some exceptions:
Because these services are provided in the school setting, limited information may be shared on a need to know basis with a teacher, administrator, or other school staff member who works with the student in order to better support the student
As required by law in the event that the student is in danger of harm to self or others, or there is cause to suspect possible abuse or neglect
A guardian can request that the Student Services team member share information with a third party by signing a consent for release of information form
