Monthly Sight Words
Monthly Sight Words
Kindergartners will spend a lot of time writing and reading “Sight” words this year. “Sight” words are introduced to children by stressing the fact that these words pop up often when they write and read. Often these words are not phonetic, therefore children can not decode them in the traditional ways. It is helpful to practice these words with flashcards; encouraging children to recognize them quickly. On first introduction to these words it is acceptable for children to look at the beginning sound for a clue.
