SCHOLARSHIP

• You must have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher.

SERVICE

• You must have (unpaid) volunteer experience either in the school or community. You must have a minimum of 30 verified hours worked with at least two different organizations (both verified on your application). Fundraising for clubs, sports, etc does not count as community service.

• Community Service must be completed outside of school hours, with the exception of lunch, before school, and after school. Completing tasks or services for or during a class do not count as service hours.

• An explanation of the event and how it changed you as a person is required for each community service entry.

LEADERSHIP

• You must have at least one leadership experience. This can be  dawn from school or community activities while working with or for others. Through your leadership experience, you must demonstrate that you have held a role where you are responsible for leading other volunteers/workers, activities, or plans. 

• Leadership roles need to be verified by listing a contact name and their information. A leadership role must include a title.

CHARACTER

• You must demonstrate high moral character, including honesty, integrity, reliably, respect, courtesy, and concern.

• You must have a clean disciplinary record. Independence teachers and administrators will validate your character and make the NHS advisors aware of any concerns.
