How do I earn Global Experience Hours?

The goal of Global Experience Hours is to put yourself outside your comfort zone and experience a perspective that is different from your own. Students will submit a reflection that details their experience. This is different from the service hours earned in the AIS program. Here is an example:

• AIS service hour donate canned food to the school food drive 1 hour earned
• GSP Experience attend a cultural festival and participate in an activity 1 experience earned

Some examples of activities that are suitable for Global Experience Hours:

• attend a religious service that is not of your religion
• attend a cultural festival and participate in some way (speak with people about the culture, eat food you are unfamiliar with, participate in a cultural activity (such as a dance)
• travel (Does not have to be international)
• visit a museum
• In light of the limitations we are experiencing due to the pandemic, students may read a series of books or articles on a topic that will qualify for a Global Experience Hour. Students should get the topic approved by Ms. Williams to ensure it will qualify for credit.

Class of 2022 4 experiences

Class of 2023 6 experiences

Class of 2024 8 experiences

The experience requirement is structured so that students can complete one experience per semester; however, students may complete experiences at their own pace. The experience totals should be complete by graduation.
