Professional:
This is my 20th year of teaching and in German Immersion. I have previously taught 2nd and 3rd grade. I love my job and our school. It is always a thrill to see the look on a student's face when they know, understand, or can do something they didn't believe they could! Prior to studying to become a teacher at UNCC, I served for four and a half years in the USAF. I was selected by my colleagues to be the 2021 Waddell Language Academy Teacher of the Year. This was a huge honor for me which I will cherish for years to come as it was a most unusual year for teaching and learning, in addition to being our final year in the previous building. This year, I am looking forward to an excellent year with your children while working on becoming a National Board certified teacher.
Teaching Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs:
All students can learn and succeed. Structure, neatness, and order are taught and valued. I hold high expectations for all students and challenge them to become their best selves. I believe in creating a warm, welcoming classroom environment. Class meetings occur weekly to help foster our relationships and problem-solving skills.
Personal:
My son went through the German Immersion program from K through Grade 5. He is now a High Schooler at NWSA. I love to read, watch movies, cook, and spend time with my husband and my son when I am not working. I also enjoy playing with my adorable, three and a half year old Shih Tzu. I am working on getting fit this school year.
A few of my favorite things:
My favorite stores are Target, Walmart, Trader Joe's, Lidl, Food Lion, Kohl's, and Belk. My favorite drink is flavored (vanilla, cinnamon, or hazelnut) coffee with cream and sugar. My favorite places to eat out are Viva Chicken, Sabor, and Zoe's Kitchen. My favorite fruits are strawberries, grapes, red/pink apples, and all types of melons.
