THEATRE @ AN ARTS MAGNET

THEATRE education is an immersive experience at an arts magnet, and our program is innovative, rigorous and lively. Our students are challenged, creatively and intellectually, as they work to perfect their craft under some of the finest scholars and theatre-makers in the nation. On this page,  you will see references to the programming at Northwest School of the Arts, which used to hold grades 6-12 but now only holds grades 9-12.  First Ward is dedicated exclusively to 6-8 as of the 2025-26 school year!  The videos on this page represent the programming both at First Ward and Northwest, even though they may only reference Northwest.  

Students enjoy many performance opportunities, and work closely with the dance, visual arts and music departments to fully produce musicals, plays and other events. 

Many of our alumni have gone on to pursue successful careers in theatre — as makers, teachers, or both. Some enter arts administration or management, or a host of other related professional careers.
