WORK-BASED LEARNING
Students who identify their pathways in their Freshman year will be part of a select group of students chosen first for internships (both paid and unpaid), mentoring, apprenticeships, and job shadowing opportunities.
CERTIFICATION
Being a Career and Technical Education Concentrator allows students to complete the WorkKeys assessment, which provides a career and college readiness industry certification upon successful completion. In addition to the WorkKeys industry certification, these students will be eligible for additional certification in their career track.
CAREER ENDORSEMENT ON HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
If students are CTE Concentrators, gain a GPA of 2.6 or higher unweighted and at least one industry credential: WorkKeys CRC at Silver level or above or another industry credential aligned with a CTE course of study, and complete four years of Math (including Math I, II, III and IV mathematics) then they will have a Career Endorsement on their High School Diploma after graduation (North Carolina State Board of Education, 2016).
CTE CONCENTRATOR
Chambers High School offers many opportunities for students to get closer to their career goals. One of these ways is to become a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Concentrator.
A CTE Concentrator is a student who has earned two or more technical credits in a Career Cluster, at least one of which is a "completer" or second-level course. If you are interested in achieving this goal and participating in our WorkKeys assessment, speak to your Career Development Coordinator (CDC).
Chambers CTE students are offered opportunities to participate in internships, work-based learning, job shadowing, career fairs, field trips, extracurricular activities, and a chance to enroll in college classes while in high school through the CPCC Career & College Promise Partnership. Students should check their emails regularly to stay informed about new and upcoming opportunities. All Chambers CTE students are encouraged to take the industry certification exams, which are free. The current CTE STEM pathways offered at Chambers and their corresponding industry certifications can be found in the file below:
