Volunteer opportunity - NJHS will begin collecting recycling throughout the school building starting in September. Fridays will be the collection day. We need a total of 24 students each week to cover the A hall & villas, 6th grade hall, 7th grade hall & 8th grade hall. Sign-up is on the NJHS bulletin board. Students will earn 1 hour per collection and must check in with Ms. Johnson.
Welcome!
The Cathy Conroy Memorial Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) upholds high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship and character. For the 2023-2024 school year the sponsor will be Ms. Valerie Johnson.
Service Opportunities
Students will be required to complete 20 hours of service during the 8th grade year to be considered a member in good standing at the end of the year.
Induction Process
Each spring, 7th grade students are inducted into NJHS and participate in the club for the remainder of 7th grade year and the following 8th grade year. All 7th grade students will be invited to have their grades reviewed by the 7th grade counselor to determine eligibility for application. This invitation will be extended after the first semester of 7th grade ends. Invitations typically go out late February. Once a student returns the invitation, grades will be reviewed. In order to progress in the induction process, a student has to have a final 6th grade report card of "A's" with no more than 3 "B's" and 7th grade, 1st semester grades of "A's" with no more than 3 "B's." All class grades will be reviewed, including electives. Students who meet this eligibility requirement will be invited to apply. Students must secure a teacher recommendation and write an essay regarding scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship, and character to complete the application process. Select staff will review the completed application to determine if membership will be offered. Please review the NJHS Scoring Rubric below:
