2021 - 2022

January

2nd and 3rd Graders will complete the digital citizenship courses, and first graders will participate in choice activities.  Students will also learn about the Caldecott Medal and continue their unit on "just right" books from earlier in the year.


December

Students will complete their digital citizenship courses and will participate in coding lessons.

Students will continue to learn about digital citizenship.

Students will receive lessons in digital citizenship thorugh the CMS Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship curriculum.


August/September

Classes will participate in media & technology orientation lessons and begin checking out books.  Classes will review classroom guidelines and book care by participating in read-alouds.   Students will review how to locate books in our media center and will receive lessons on using Destiny, out online catalog.

March

2nd graders continue book clubs through the end of the 3rd quarter.  Students will create an an original piece of art to reflect their favorite part of their book club book.  Students will also write and type a caption for their art work using the Chromebooks.

February

3rd graders will share their book club projects on Feb. 13.

2nd graders begin book clubs, which meet weekly in the media center.

January 

All grades will begin instruction in digital citizenship.

3rd graders will continue to create their eBook.  they will work with Ms. Kristen to create an original piece of art to use as an illustration for their eBook.

December 

3rd graders continue in book clubs.  Students will read and discuss a  book with their peers.  Students will create an original eBook about their reading.

November 

3rd graders will begin student book clubs.  Students will read and discuss a  book with their peers.  

ALL lower el students are encouraged to create a gingerbread house out of non-food items.  Information will go home the week of Nov. 4-8.  Projects are due to the media center by Friday, Dec. 6.

October

1st graders will continue to practice  where to locate materials in the media center and will practice locating fiction books by the author's last name.  Alphabet skills will be reinforced.

2nd graders will continue to practice searching for books using the online catalog.  

3rd graders will receive a lesson about how to use a Chromebook and will reset their Google password to a password of their choice.

August/September

Students will also practice keyboarding skills as well as how to locate important online resources to enhance their learning.

August/September

Classes will review classroom guidelines and book care by participating in read-alouds.  Students  will focus on writing throughout the year by making connections to the books and online information they read.

Students will learn about the research process during media lessons.  They are practicing keyboarding skills in technology as well as exploring poetry sites for National Poetry Month.

2nd and 3rd grade students are also learning how to use Google Drive to create documents and do word processing.

3rd graders learned about myths & legends, how to write a book review, and how to create a Power Point presenation.

2nd graders will review the Super3 research method in preparation for a weather research project in January.
