Please note that this is a 6-week summer internship available only to students who will be 18 by 6/17/2024. Additionally in order to be eligible for this internship, students must receive a referral from one of our referral partners like yourself.
Intern Benefits - 6-week paid internship
Exposure to HGC’s internal site development resource groups including: mass grading,
fine grading, erosion control, concrete, utilities, survey, and shop
Consistent communication from our Internship Program Manager to ensure success
throughout the program and evaluate which resource group is the best fit for their interests
and skills
An HGC career counselor available as needed to help guide their career path at HGC
A potential offer of fulltime employment at the end of the internship
Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas - Leader in Training
High school students can register for Junior Achievement's FREE Leader-in-Training program!. Students aged 15 - 17-years old have the opportunity to develop valuable leadership, problem solving, and communication skills through helping to facilitate fun activities for campers! The SCALE internship program is designed to bring a motivated group of students with diverse backgrounds and perspectives together to grow their skills and benefit non-profit organizations in our community.
Navigate Internship - Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 Internship Cohort
Fully Involved. As a public private partnership liaison program, Navigate is committed to maintaining the integrity of the hospitality industry by building tomorrow's workforce. Navigate provides the training that will allow access to above livable wage employment options for low-income high-potential communities.
The long-term objective is to improve the social-economic trajectory. Navigate is the vehicle that connects qualified talent with the rising need for job placement in the hospitality industry. The program works with corporate partners to strategically align industry needs with youth development. Navigate provides both classroom and on-site kitchen experience.

YearUp Charlotte
Year Up Charlotte is currently admitting students for its inaugural class launching August 2019, and is located on the campus of Central Piedmont Community College. Year Up offers an intensive, one-year program for young adults, ages 18-24, combining professional coaching, hands-on skill development, and internships at some of America’s top companies. As college students, our young adults have access to the library, tutoring resources, and other services offered by the college, in addition to the services offered by Year Up. As students work toward completing a degree at Central Piedmont Community College. Year Up provides them with coaching, and skill development in track specialties such as Helpdesk/Desktop Support and Customer Service, preparing 40 graduates to launch a meaningful career in a year.

Aviation Institute of Maintenance Dual Enrollment
Technician Program (Airframe & Powerplant)
Who – Aviation Institute of Maintenance is the largest Aviation Maintenance school in the country with 14 campuses nationwide and nearly 4,000 students.
What – FAA approved curriculum qualifies students to sit for exams needed earn Aviation Maintenance Technician(AMT) Certifications with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
When – 21 month program
Dual Enrollment Class Schedule - Tuesday-Thursday 2:30pm-4:45pm
Regular Class Schedule - Monday – Thursday from 7:30am-2pm or 5pm-11:30pm
Where – Our Charlotte campus is located at 7421 E Independence Blvd in Charlotte. This is a 51,000 sq. ft. building of which 25,000 sq. ft., is an airplane hangar housing 7 aircraft including a Learjet and a helicopter.
Why – There is currently a high demand for AMT’s which is projected to grow by 6% in next 10 years with a median pay of $32/hr.
How - Our Dual Enrollment high school program allows students in high school to take 4 of the 17 required courses while still being a junior or senior in high school.
No cost to them or the school. This program saves a student 5 months of time and over $11,000 in costs.

ABOUT THE MAYOR'S YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (MYEP) ENROLLEMNT CLOSED 9/27/2023
Since 1986, the MYEP has worked to prepare Charlotte’s youth for future employment. The program focuses on leveraging relationships with businesses and the community to provide meaningful, career-oriented internships for participants
MYEP participants explore careers, hone skills, and gain exposure to models of professionalism, creating pathways to attainable career goals. As youth achieve, our community is strengthened.
MYEP provides career and professional development experiences to eligible and accepted youth through part-time internship or job placements. Host employers participate with the MYEP by offering positions that align with either an internship or job experience for MYEP-accepted youth.
When: Summer 2024 MYEP Program dates are approximately June 17, 2024 – Friday, August 2, 2024
