Welcome

Dear 6th Grade Parents and Students;

Hello and welcome to my sixth grade math class at Southwest Middle School! I hope that you have enjoyed your summer vacation and are ready to get back to work. I am enthusiastically anticipating this new school year and I hope that you are looking forward to it as much as I am. As I prepare for the year ahead, I start to think about the students who will be walking through my door. I am so excited and am also looking forward to getting to know new students and their families as well. I am planning to learn more about each student individually, so please let me know if you have any information that you think would be helpful for me to understand your child better.

I will be teaching your child 6th Grade Honors Mathematics. In this class we will be working on and mastering topics including: the number system, algebra, geometry, statistics, etc. We will provide more details during our upcoming open house and curriculum night about the specific breakdown and timing of covering topics. Also, I will provide ongoing updates via the classroom website.

My classroom will be structured in a fashion where everyone will be encouraged and required to participate in the learning process. My goal will to make sure that each student masters each topic and is able to use that knowledge as we move forward each day. I am so excited about what lies ahead for the Math SUPERSTARS, who will walk in to my room.

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. I am available to talk via email and/or telephone, so that we can ensure the focus on setting your child up for success remains our key focus.
