Hello 6th Grade Families! My name is Randy Tice and I am the Director of Bands here at Bailey Middle School. Any student who is interested in joining the band program here at Bailey Middle is welcome to do so! Students MUST sign up in 6th grade if they want to do band though as this is their only opportunity to start band . Students CAN NOT start band in 7th or 8th grade.
The Bailey Middle School Band Program is an award winning program that has received a superior rating at the North Carolina Music Performance Adjudication festival several times over. In addition to being a part of an award winning program, many students find themselves staying in band all the way through high school because of the sense of community students build in the program.
Students do NOT need to have any prior musical knowledge or experience to sign up for the class

Basic Band Information
6th Grade: Instrument rentals are acquired through our partners at Music and Arts, once your child knows what instrument they will be playing, please secure your rental through them
We will be using Habits of a Successful Beginning Band Musician and this book will be provided through CMS.
Students will be split in to one of two classes depending on which instrument they play. A day classes will consist of Brass Players (Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn) and B day classes will consist of Woodwind Players (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone) and Percussionists.
All potential 6th grade band members are encouraged to attend our instrument try out nights to figure out which instrument would be the best fit for them,
March 7th and March 9th 5:00 - 7:00 PM At Bailey Middle School
Students wanting to be a part of the percussion section MUST attend one of the two instrument try out nights!!
