3MBA104 / QUANTITATIVE METHODSCourse Objectives: At the end of the course, the student will be able to:1. Apply basic mathematical and statistical concepts to business decision-making.2. Analyze and interpret business data using descriptive and inferential techniques.3. Apply probability concepts to managerial decision situations involving risk and uncertainty.4. Use quantitative techniques such as forecasting, linear programming, and decision analysis to solve business problems.5. Utilize spreadsheets and digital tools for quantitative analysis and managerial reporting. The course provides a practical foundation in business statistics and quantitative techniques to develop students’ ability to make informed, data-driven managerial decisions. It integrates basic mathematical and statistical concepts with business applications, enabling students to analyze, interpret, and communicate quantitative information effectively.
The course covers descriptive and inferential statistics, probability and decision-making under risk and uncertainty, forecasting, linear programming, and decision analysis. Emphasis is placed on applying these techniques to real-world business situations across areas such as marketing, finance, human resources, operations, and general management. Students also develop practical proficiency in spreadsheets and digital tools for data analysis, problem-solving, visualization, and managerial reporting.
By the end of the course, students are expected to demonstrate quantitative thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making skills. The course thereby strengthens students’ ability to convert business data into meaningful insights and apply appropriate quantitative methods to support effective managerial decisions.
