The objective of Run it live!!! was to give students practical exposure to programming logic through an interactive, team-based, physical activity. The event aimed to build an understanding of executing code statements, conditions, iteration and repetition, while developing logical thinking, debugging skills and step-by-step problem solving. It also encouraged teamwork, quick thinking and clear communication in a fun yet intellectually stimulating environment.
Code as actions: Participants saw how a statement like “3 × STAR CLAP” turns into exact steps, which made commands and sequential execution concrete.
Conditions and loops: Acting out repetition, alternating sequences and an infinite loop stopped with break gave them a hands-on feel for iteration and conditional logic.
Debugging and step-by-step thinking: Interpreting code, spotting mistakes and working through the multi-step decode challenge built logical and problem-solving skills.
Teamwork and communication: In Code Charades, teams had to explain logic through code-like statements and interpret each other’s instructions, which trained clear, precise communication.
Confidence and enjoyment: Participants learned that programming concepts can be fun and approachable, and the quick-thinking, competitive format built confidence.
