Typically at I&E, we sign MOUs on two accounts a) When an industry identified a problem statement & give funding to further R&D and file patent, b) When a CMRIT stakeholder convinces an alumni/ industry to fund a problem statement identified by them. In either way the usual practice is that CMRIT stakeholders are not burdened with patent expenses and the same usually comes from industry/ alumni. MOU from an industry is an inherent meaning that there is a second person sees what the stakeholders see and this forms the basis for problem statement definition and the subsequent product development!
