Dr. T.R. Subramanya is currently serving as the Dean of CMR University School of Legal Studies (w.e.f 4-4-2018), Bengaluru after serving as Coordinator & Research Fellow at the Centre for Regulatory Studies, Governance and Public Policy (CRSGPP) in The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences,
Kolkata (2016-2018). Prior to this, he was the Vice Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi (2013-2015). He has also been the Professor of International Law at West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences; Vice-Chancellor (in-charge), Bangalore University; Dean and Chairman of the Faculty of Law, Bangalore University (2008-2010); Registrar (Evaluation) (2010-2012) and Registrar (in-charge) Administration of Bangalore University (2009). He has also served as the honorary member of the Karnataka State Law Commission. In the international level, Prof. Subramanya has served as Legal Counsellor to the Kingdom of Bahrain for over 7 years. In this capacity, he acquired considerable knowledge of the laws and legal systems of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) States and in the practical application of international law at the municipal level.
As a student, Prof. Subramanya has had a distinguished academic career throughout. Having pursued M.A. (History) and LL. B with First Class and securing the first rank in his LL.M from the University of Mysore, he went on to secure an M.Phil. And Ph.D. Degree in International Law from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (1993). Apart from the innumerable papers published in a variety of National and Internationally renowned Journals, Dr. Subramanya initially published a book entitled ‘The Rights and Status of the Individual in International Law’ (1984) and edited another on ‘Human Rights in International Law’ (1986). His most recent book released in 2021 on ‘Hazardous Substances in India and the World: Legislations, Frameworks and Management’ is published by Routledge, United Kingdom and was released in UK, Western Europe, Australia and US in May, 2021. The book will be released in India in August, 2021.
Dr. V J Praneshwaran: Born to be an educationist graduated in Law and then LL.M. in Constitutional Law, M.Phil in law and PhD from Bangalore University. After obtaining significant experience in practicing law, he decided to pursue his passion in teaching. With Core experience in practicing Law, Client Counselling and Teaching, his lustrous experience spans over 23 years.
His Ph.D thesis titled “A Study of Laws Relating to Armed Forces and the Protection of Human Rights in India” reflects his understanding the need for equality treatment and respect for human rights in disciplined organizations like the Indian Armed Forces.
A die hard nationalist, always trying to contribute to nation building by imparting, organizing and encouraging Legal Literacy, Education and Legal Awareness initiatives at various levels. Also serving as a patron in Legal Aid Trust, a registered NGO.
He is currently serving as Director, CMR University School of Legal Studies He, in the capacity of Director continues to inspire teachers, staff and students. His battery of students are spread across various careers and social fabric of India and abroad.
Vidya Selvamony LLM is a practicing advocate with over 20 years of extensive and highly regarded experience. She enrolled with Karnataka Bar Council in the year 2000 and her expertise spans across various legal domains that include working with domestic & International NGOs in the aspect of law relating to Tourism, Women & Child protection and has represented her organization in national and international forums. She has also presented research papers and findings in international forums like world congress III (Presented paper on sexual exploitation of children and adolescent), UNWTO Task force for protection of children (Presented a paper on Situation of child abuse with links to tourism in INDIA), UNODC (Presented paper on trafficking of children in tourism), ECPAT (Presented paper on situation of children in INDIA, Child safety mechanisms, Information Technology and Child Sexual exploitation), ITB - Berlin (presented paper on Tackling of exploitation of children by strengthening the cooperations among NGO’s, Law Enforcement Authorities and the private sector).
She has been co-researcher on the topic “Male child sexual exploitation in pilgrim tourism sites in India” and her research report “Unholy Nexus was widely discussed and resulted in various policy changes in India. She has authored books and papers like “An investigation report on tourism and displacement”, “coastal investors calling”, “Ugly face of Tourism”, “In the heart of Incredible India - exploitation of children in tourism”, dozier on rights of the child in the context of tourism. She was a member of the drafting committee of “Protection of children from sexual offences Bill”, Member of the drafting committee of “Information Technology Amendment Act”, Member of the drafting committee for “Model Street Vendors Bill”. Her practice in Advocacy is in the domain of Litigation, Non Litigation, Criminal Law and Alternate dispute resolution. She is also a visiting faculty at the CMR University School of Legal Studies where she trains young law minds on practical application of Law. She also runs a Trust (Legal Aid Trust) as part of her philanthropic initiatives.
Ms. Anunanda Unni holds an LL.M. in International Law from RGSOIPL, IIT Kharagpur, and completed a B.A. LL.B. from GLC, Trivandrum. She cleared the UGC NET in December 2023. An accomplished mooter, she won the “Best Advocate Award” at the 2nd R.V. Dhanapalan National Moot Court Competition in 2021 and participated in various National Level Moot Court competitions and trial Advocacy competitions. Her research interests include International Criminal Law, focusing on state obligations towards the International Criminal Court, and International Environmental Law, particularly Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction and Climate Change Law. She is also presently the editor of Ljrfvoice.com.
