PGCPS Charter Schools DO NOT PROVIDE OR RECOMMEND transportation resources.  It is the parent/legal guardian’s responsibility to secure transportation for students to and from CMIT North Elementary daily.  Parents/legal guardians are also responsible to report at the beginning of the SY transportation services utilized, changes in service, or day-to-day dismissal changes for planning/updating our dismissal process.

Enrichment Program

Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) Before & after Care

CLF’s Enrichment Program serves families and students of CLF schools, grades K-12, by offering structured time in a safe and protective environment before and after school hours, giving families more flexibility with scheduling and transportation.  The program provides an opportunity for academic support and social growth through supervised study sessions, homework assistance, organized recreation, games and peer interactions.

For more information visit:  https://clfmd.org/enrichment/

School attendance

The start of the school day begins at 7:35 a.m., with dismissal starting at 2:25 p.m.

Absences, doctor notes, and early dismissals notes are to be recorded using the CMIT North Elementary School Absence Form within three (3) days of your child’s return from an absence. Parent Communication

CMIT North Elementary values parent communication tremendously and therefore uses a variety  of means of communication throughout the year.  It is imperative that we are able to communicate with you.  In addition, it is highly encouraged that parents/guardians actively participate, read, and pay close attention to our school’s forms of communication.

Pick-up & Drop-off

When dropping off and picking up your scholar(s), please enter the parking lot located at the cul-de-sac of Chevy Chase Drive.  Upon entering the parking lot turn right to circle around to the back of the school building.  For both drop-off and pick-up, all cars are to pull up to the cafeteria doors near the school playground.  Parents/guardians are to remain in their vehicles while scholars are assisted to or from the vehicle. Upon completion of pick-up/drop-off all cars will exit past the playground to Chevy Chase Drive.

CMIT Elementary Uniform Info

Students are expected to wear the CMIT North Elementary uniform at all times.  Students and parents are expected to honor the uniform code in order that valuable school time is not spent examining student attire to determine appropriateness.  The uniform policy is in effect from the time students walk into the building to the end of the day when the after-school programs are over.

For more information on our uniform policy go to:  https://cmitelementary.org/uniform-policy/

In November 2020, PGCPS launched an online volunteer application and approval process. Visit www.pgcps.org/volunteer for more information on becoming a volunteer and to access the application. Follow these simple steps to get started:

Step 1 – Apply Online

(Annual Requirement)

All volunteers must complete the PGCPS online volunteer application located on the PGCPS volunteer website under the “Become a Volunteer” section and takes approximately three minutes to complete.  Next, you will receive confirmation of approval to serve as a volunteer from PGCPS.

Step 2 – Complete Background Screening Process

(One-Time Requirement)

PGCPS requires a fingerprint background check and Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance for each person who will provide volunteer services.  Please note that this is a one-time requirement for all volunteers.

Step 3 – Complete Mandatory Safety Training Modules

(Annual Requirement)

Once you complete the online volunteer application, you must use your unique Volunteer Identification Number (VIN) from PGCPS as your username and password to login and complete the required training modules.

You are required to complete these modules annually.

Step 4 Email

Fill out CMIT NES Volunteer SY 2024-25 Form

Once all of the PGCPS steps (1-3 above) have been completed, you will receive an email from PGCPS titled Volunteer Application Approved. Please fill out the CMIT NES Volunteer SY 2024-25 Form which will be monitored by the CMIT NES front office staff.  The link to watch the CMIT North Elementary Volunteer Training Video (approx 18 minutes) is provided in the CMIT NES Volunteer SY 2023-24 Form.  Once you have completed watching the video you will return to the form to take a short QUIZ: Attendance for Volunteering Info Sessions.  Upon submission of the form, the front office staff will automatically be notified. Teachers/Staff will be updated accordingly with your volunteer status.

Your eligibility as an approved volunteer will expire on June 30th of each academic year

Renewal of your volunteer application may be done after July 1st of each new academic year.
