CMI Academic Support Program (ASP)
CMI Academic Support Program (ASP)
Our mission is to help and encourage students to achieve maximum academic success by guiding them to be proficient in their works while promoting independent learning. We also help students overcome any sorts of struggle they are facing in regards to their subjects such as English, Math, Information Computer Systems (ICS), and Major-focused courses such as Business, Education, and Nursing.
Tutoring provides an opportunity for students to engage in learning conversations that will clarify and increase comprehension of course material, develop test-taking and time management strategies, and improve study habits. ASP Tutoring is a welcoming, inclusive space for students to connect, ask questions, prepare for exams, and have support on assignments or homework.
Our tutoring services are free to CMI, ABE, and UB students. We offer individual and/or group tutoring. Continue reading and exploring our pages for more information.
Wearing masks is now a matter of individual choice. However, if you have symptoms of flu, or a cold or cough, wearing a mask stops the spread of viruses to others. We encourage everyone to continue maintaining good hand washing and hand sanitizing practices.
We have online tutoring available if you are not comfortable coming to in-person tutoring. Check below for more information.
The Writing Center (Room WH 201) is a workplace where students can get help on writing assignments in all classes. Tutors and students engage in learning conversations about the various concerns of the writer – writing good sentences, organizing papers well, and locating and documenting sources, among other topics.
Small STAMP (Room TH 105) is one of the STAMP (Science, Technology And Mathematics Playground) computer laboratories where students can access computers for their science, computer, and math classes. Students seeking extra help can also find tutors here.
Regular Hours of Operation for both learning centers are from Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm.
The learning centers are typically closed during holidays and weekends. However, if a significant number of students request access during the weekends, we can accommodate their needs.
Additionally, the hours of operation may be extended during the study and review days for Midterms and Finals. This extension may also include the weekend prior to examinations.

Tutoring works when you've already attempted the assignment or homework on your own! Otherwise, your tutor won't know how to help you.
Bring your textbook, assignments and/or assignment sheets, study guides, past homework, etc., with you to tutoring. Come prepared with questions. The more context your tutor has, the more effective the process will be.
Don't bring a take-home exam! Tutors may not assist you with in-progress exams or quizzes. They can, however, help you understand academic dishonesty or what was wrong on graded tests or homework/assignment.
