Kindergarten Teacher- Dr. Darlys Garcia-Marty
My name is Mrs. Garcia-Marty and I am truly elated to be serving as one of the Kindergarten Spanish Immersion teachers at Barksdale. I have served in CMCSS since 2013 as a first grade teacher and a kindergarten teacher. Teaching is truly a passion for me. In sharing a little about myself, I have been teaching and working with children for over 16 years. I began teaching in North Carolina and received my first degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I have an Early childhood degree and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialty from (Concordia University-Portland). I am also entering the last phase of my doctoral program in Education and feel truly lucky to remain in the classroom through this portion of my life. Clarksville has become our final duty station as my family and I begin this new phase of our lives. We celebrate the venture of a new school year full of Spanish Immersion, learning and laughter!
Kindergarten Teacher- Carlos Gonzalez
My name is Carlos A. Gonzalez and it is an honor to be serving as one of the Kindergarten Spanish Immersion teachers at Barksdale Elementary. I have served in CMCSS since 2005 as an ESL (English as a Second Language) educator. I love teaching children! Here is a snip of my professional background, my teaching career began in Puerto Rico back in 1997. I earned my first degree in Education from Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-6), as well as a Master's degree in English as a Second Language (PreK-12) from Western Governors’ University.
Clarksville has become our home for the past 14 years to my wife Michelle and my children Carolina and CJ. I am looking forward to teach my first language to the amazing children of Barksdale Elementary and celebrate our new accomplishments together!
Kindergarten Teacher - Julia Morales-Solis
Hola! My name is Julia Morales-Solis and I am so excited to be a part of the Spanish Immersion program at Barksdale. I grew up in Clarksville and graduated from Northeast High School. I joined the Army shortly after high school and spent 7 years active duty. After leaving the military, I pursued my degree in Education. I have a Bachelor’s from Austin Peay with a concentration in Early Childhood and Math. In 2012, I completed a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I have been teaching for 18 years, 16 years have been with Clarksville-Montgomery County School. I started teaching in 2013 and could not imagine doing anything else. My motivation and reward comes from connecting with students and helping them to learn and grow. I truly enjoy teaching and look forward to working with your child this year. My goals as a teacher are to create a safe and positive learning environment in which all students can learn and develop. We are going to have a wonderful school year. Go Bengals!
Educational Assistant- Iris Ramirez Celeste
Iris is an educational assistant in Senor Gonzalez's class. Originally from the Dominican Republic, her husband's military career has brought her to Clarksville. She has 2 boys at home that are part of the CMCSS family. We are happy to have her as a part of our Immersion family.
