Below are some resources to help you take care of yourself. It's important to make a plan that covers 3 main areas:
Mental
Physical
Emotional
Create an attitude of gratitude--write down 1 thing daily that was good or you are thankful for
Break tasks up into smaller sections
Create a to-do list-- the first item on it is "create list" so you have something to mark off
Take breaks--go for a walk, listen to music, etc
Exercise at least 30 minutes a day--take a walk, yoga
Good Sleep Habits
Eat Well
Practice Relaxation Techniques or Mindfulness --deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation
Know your emotions--Name them and be able to describe how you experience them
Talk with a trusted adult--while this may not be your first instinct, adults have different perspectives than your friends that might allow you to see things differently
Activity: Using either a highlighter or pen, mark at least 5 items from the list that you do to cope with whatever situation you may be facing. Then, go back through the list with a different highlighter or pen and mark at least 5 additional items that you would like to add to your routine. If you have any questions about what an item is, email your School Counselor.
