Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for federal and state money to go to college. You must complete the FAFSA to receive financial aid like the Tennessee Promise, HOPE Scholarship, and Pell Grant.

FAFSA Information - Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students and parents are encouraged to create FSA IDs (fsaid.ed.gov) prior to October 1. Complete the FAFSA on or after October 1 of your senior year. The FAFSA application information is automatically shared with the TN Hope (Lottery) Scholarship, so you do not need to apply for this separately.
Pin numbers are no longer used for the FAFSA. Students and parents will now use a FSA ID https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch

You will use your tax information from the previous calendar year to complete the FAFSA. If you have had a significant change in your financial situation since the last year, make sure you let the financial aid office at your college know. They can assist you with additional paperwork to help you receive additional financial aid if you qualify for more.
