Birthdays: Birthdays may be celebrated at school. It works best for us to celebrate birthdays during our lunchtime. Please message me ahead of time, and I can give you an accurate class count and notify you of any allergies. We will celebrate any summer birthdays during the month of May.
Snack: Due to an early lunch, we will have snack each day in the afternoon. Please send one healthy snack with your child every day.
Keep this snack separate from your child's lunchbox.
Choose items that are easy for your child to open independently.
Classroom Snack Donations (Optional): Sometimes children forget their snack. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate donations for our community snack bin.
High-priority items include:
Boxes of crackers (goldfish, animal crackers, or ritz)
Individual applesauce pouches
Boxes of pretzels.
Thank you for supporting our classroom community!
Daily Yellow Take Home Folder: Please check your child’s daily folder each night as it may contain papers from the office, graded papers, or notes from me. If your student is unable to complete an assignment at school, it will be sent home with a note for them to complete. If a student is absent, their work will be sent home but does not need to be returned. Please remove any necessary papers each night and return the folder to school the following day. I will also check the folders each morning for any notes, signed forms, etc. Dismissal can be busy, and items may get mixed up, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. Any money sent to school through the daily folder must come in an envelope or baggy labeled with the student’s name and what the money is for. The monthly newsletter will also be kept in the daily folder. This will be handy in keeping up with events and other important reminders.
Blue Friday Folder: On Friday, they will come home with their Friday folder. This is all the class work and center work they have completed over the week. You may see my feedback on some of this work, but none of it will be graded work. Please remove the work from the folder and return on Monday.
Volunteers: Parents are welcome to volunteer in our classroom! Please let me know if you would be interested in volunteering. If you are unable to volunteer in the actual classroom, you can always participate by sending in items, sharpening pencils (I send these home for you to do while you catch up on Netflix), or cutting out items we may need for a craft. I will make posts in Parent Square if we need help.
Extra Clothes: Please keep an extra pair of clothes and underwear in your child’s backpack in a labeled Ziploc bag. We may have various accidents (bathroom, sickness, playground, art, etc) at school, and having clothing will help make your child feel more comfortable quicker. Please also make sure your student can undress and dress themselves as well as place their wet clothes in a bag. Teachers are unable to assist students in the bathroom.
Water Bottles: Your student is allowed to bring a water bottle to school. Please label their water bottles. They will be able to drink water throughout the day when needed.
Toys: Please note that if your child brings a toy to school, they will be asked to put it away and may bring it out only on inside recess days. Your student will be responsible for keeping up with their toy and caring for it. Student toys are not the teacher’s responsibility.
Homework: Your child will have suggested homework in the form of a monthly calendar. Additionally, please practice any skills not mastered that are provided in the page protectors of the daily take-home folder. Red words are hardest for students to master.
