Knowledge Focus
In this unit, students will read informational texts and literature, including narrative poetry, about the importance of resources in society. Students will build schema around the following concepts:
Social Studies
States’ access to resources attracts businesses that establish their role in national and international economies.
Lack of access to resources has historically prompted citizens to work together to influence government to help solve community and state problems.
Timelines sequence key events and help illustrate the development of cities and communities as access to resources changes through times.
Literature
Narrative poetry reimagines important historical events through the use of vivid imagery and figurative language.
