Games

If learning is fun, students of all ages will be engaged. Games are a great way to deliver content to students in a way that will make them glad they came to school. Here are a few ways to deliver content in a game-like way using Google sites, slides, forms, and more.

Scavenger Hunts in Google Slides

Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt. Why not use a google slide to create a digital scavenger hunt. Build a room, world, or galaxy in google slides. Take screenshots of what you have built and save the image as a jpg or png file. Upload the file as a background on a slide presentation. Add shapes with transparent fill and outline (#invisible) and link them to other places in the presentation or websites. Have a google form or other way for students to report their progress.

Scavenger Hunt

This Google slides presentation uses invisible links to create an activity simulating a scavenger hunt. Think of how the teacher could have the students report their results.

Use your mouse to find the correct number for each item listed below. Some items will have more than one number.

Your teacher will tell you how to report your results.

Mammal

Bird

Predator

Reptile

Fruit

Vegetable

Deciduous Tree

Cumulous

Renewable Resource

Non-Renewable Resource

Digital Breakouts

Escape rooms are fun ways to build relationships, but are impractical for use with an entire class. A digital breakout can deliver the same type of activity that delivers standards based content while building the soft skill our students need like perseverance, thinking outside of the box, and collaboration. By combining Google sites, forms, and sometimes slides, a fun game-like activity can be used with students of all ages.

Can't Stop the Feeling

Field Day Fiasco

Lost Colony of Roanoke

Techno Bingo

Help students remember essential symbols and vocabulary relating to the use of technology with a bingo style game. Start by saying the word and the students mark the spot that corresponds or give a scenario that describes when an item on the card should be selected to take it up a notch. However you use it, Bingo style activities engage students and reinforce concepts they are expected to know.

Students can click the Generate Card button and play the game on their device with no need to print.
