In the middle school years counselors and teachers will begin to increase exposure to postsecondary options and planning. Students will have the opportunity to investigate career pathways at career fairs. They will also take assessments to identify careers in line with their interests.
Our district is proud to provide 6th and 7th grade students with access to Pathful Explorer, an interactive career curriculum designed to help students discover their strengths, interests, and future opportunities. Students complete lessons during DEN Time/Homeroom, gaining valuable insight into career pathways and the skills needed for success beyond the classroom.
Participation is especially important for 7th graders, as their Pathful Explorer activities directly connect to the annual Career Fair Field Trip. The work they complete prepares them to make the most of this hands-on experience by asking meaningful questions, exploring careers that align with their interests, and building confidence in their future goals.
Through Pathful Explorer, students begin laying the foundation for informed choices in high school and beyond.
In 8th grade, students participate in YouScience, a career exploration program that combines aptitude assessments with interest surveys to help students discover their unique strengths and potential career paths. Students complete YouScience during DEN Time/Homeroom, gaining personalized insights that connect their talents to real-world opportunities.
Participation is especially important for 8th graders as they prepare for high school registration. The results from YouScience help guide students in choosing courses that align with their future goals—whether that’s advanced academics, career and technical education (CTE), or other specialized programs. By engaging fully in YouScience, students are better equipped to make informed decisions about their educational journey and begin building a path toward future success.
