¡Hola y bienvenidos familias de CSK!
My name is Ms. Horton. I am very excited to be your child’s Spanish Teacher this year. Students receive Spanish lessons twice a week. They will learn the Spanish language in a fun and engaging way. Vocabulary and common phrases are learned through singing, acting, playing games, and other interactive activities. Students will begin with words and small phrases, gradually building their vocabulary. This is a great age for your child to learn a new language!
Please ask your child to repeat new words, phrases, and songs that they have learned in class. Your support in their learning is important to success. I look forward to an exciting and successful school year!
General Description: This class is an introduction to and exploration of Spanish language and the cultures where Spanish is spoken. It is taught through the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will learn to understand the Spanish language as it is spoken at a basic level and to communicate with simple verbal or written responses. Spanish sounds and vocabulary will be learned through imitation and practice. Cultural themes of the Spanish-speaking world will be introduced and interspersed throughout the school year. In addition, vocabulary from grade level IB Units of Inquiry will be introduced while these units are being taught in the regular classroom.
Conduct Expectations in Spanish are the same for every classroom:
· Come to class prepared to learn
· Be respectful and courteous at all times
· Participate in classroom activities
· Do not disrupt the learning process for anyone
· Follow school rules and classroom procedures
I am looking forward to an exciting and successful school year.
¡Adiós!
