Year 1 Homework 

Please read regularly with your child to support their reading fluency, and comprehension, and encourage them to log in to DoodleMaths each day to help build their confidence and stamina in maths.

In Year 1 we do not have formal spelling tests, but we do have focus words that we look closely at each week. These words have been specifically selected because they are used a lot in both reading and/or writing. To help learn these words (we call them tricky words), ask your child if they can spot the tricky part of the word and why it makes it seem tricky to either spell or read. We cover these words in our phonics lesson so the children become familiar with spotting which part of the word is tricky.
