Each fortnight, we will be focusing on a group of 15 words known as our ‘Fortnight Focus Words’.
On the first Monday of the fortnight, we will look at these words together - considering the tricky part of each word, the number of syllables, its phonemes etc. They will be displayed in the classroom, and over the following fortnight we aim to identify these same spelling patterns in other words through other parts of the curriculum, helping us to better engage with and internalise these patterns.
There will be spelling homework at the end of each fortnight, where children will use the look, say, cover, write, check technique to assess their grasp on the spellings.
