Following three successful workshops (IEEE VR 2024, IEEE VR 2025, ISMAR 2025), we further explore the theme of "Seamless Reality." By the term we envision the seamless integration of cyber and physical spaces, following the development of VR/AR display technology and perception understanding.
We define "Seamless Reality" as a concept that seamlessly integrates physical perception with behavior and cognition between cyber and physical spaces. Through this workshop, we aim to promote research on the fundamental technologies for realizing Seamless Reality, including AR display systems that enhance the realism of virtual images, AR representation design applying insights from visual cognition and psychology, and physical interactions with AR representations based on changes in physical space and haptic feedback.

Research Scientist / the head of the Seamless Research team, INRIA, France
Title: TBD
Bio: Ferran Argelaguet is a research scientist (CRCN) at IRISA/Inria Rennes since 2016 and the head of the Seamless Research team. His research focuses on 3D User Interfaces (3DUI), combining Virtual Reality, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Graphics, and Human Perception to create seamless interaction between users and 3D virtual content. He regularly serves on program committees of major VR and 3DUI conferences (IEEE VR, IEEE ISMAR, ACM VRST, IEEE 3DUI, ACM SUI) and served as program co-chair of the IEEE Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces between 2019-2022.
Schedule:
Submission deadline: January 16, 2026 (Anywhere on Earth, 23:59)
Notification: January 22, 2026
Camera-ready deadline: January 29, 2026
Workshop date: 8:45 AM - 12:30 AM, March 21, 2026
All paper submissions must be in English and must comprise 6 pages maximum, NOT including references. We also welcome a short paper of 2 pages, not including references.
All Paper submissions must be prepared in IEEE VGTC Conference Style Papers (https://tc.computer.org/vgtc/publications/conference/) and submitted in PDF format. We highly encourage authors to use the LaTeX template. However, authors who choose to use the MS Word template should ensure that the PDF submission matches the PDF format template. We accept supplementary materials (document, image, and video format) with the submission.
The review process is single-blind. Starting with this workshop, we request that authors include a brief (2–4 sentences) statement, answering: “How does this work contribute to the realization of seamless reality in VR/AR?” in the submission system. This statement will help guide the review process and inform workshop session planning. ** Update: Jan 16, 2026 ** The statement mentioned in the original CFP will NOT be required for this workshop due to limitations in the submission system. If you have already included this statement in your submission (e.g., in comments or file descriptions), it will be considered as supplementary information during the review process, but it is not mandatory.
Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE Digital Library within the IEEE ISMAR Abstract and Workshop proceedings. Please note that we considers papers of 3 or more pages to be archival. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register, attend, and present their work at 4th WSR.
To submit a paper, please select "Society: VR > Conference/Journal: IEEE VR 2026 > Track: IEEE VR 2026 Workshop: WSR" from PCS.
