Our aim is to offer a safe environment for children to grow in whilst they learn and develop. We foster your child’s own interests and offer activities that extend, enrich and develop each individual child’s potential. We actively encourage ‘play’, more technically known as Child Initiated Learning. Through play, children develop intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally.

Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. These are:

· Communication and Language

· Physical Development

· Personal, Social and Emotional Development

· Literacy

· Mathematics

· Understanding the World

· Expressive Arts and Design

Each areas are essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.  We believe that in order for children to reach their full potential they must feel happy, valued, safe and secure. We aim to achieve this within a creative and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to lead learning through play and exploration. Our practitioners are fully committed to supporting both you and your child.

When starting playgroup your child will be assigned a key worker. They will be responsible for your child and will be available to discuss any concerns or queries that you may have. During the first few weeks at playgroup we focus on your child settling in, learning to become independent and making new friends.

We like to get really messy at Playgroup and be as creative as possible.  Therefore we ask that you don’t send your children to Playgroup wearing their best clothes.  Of course we don’t just get messy, we tend to get wet too!  We recommend “puddle suits” these are waterproof outfits that go over the clothes and keep your child warm, safe and dry. We only have a limited supply of spare clothes.

We like to visit our local community and we take regular trips to the St Ives library and the town center.

You could be entitled to free early learning and childcare available until they reach compulsory school age. For information about the scheme and eligibility criteria visit: Funded hours for eligible 2 year olds - Cambridgeshire County Council
