Pursuing a Masters of Arts in Education degree at Michigan State University has been a deeply meaningful journey for me, both personally and professionally. One of my primary goals throughout this program has been to achieve a 4.0 GPA. This goal represents not only academic excellence but also my commitment to becoming the best educator I can be. Striving for this high standard has pushed me to dive deeply into the coursework, ensuring that I master the concepts, theories, and strategies that will make me more effective in the classroom. Earning a perfect GPA is symbolic of my dedication and drive to continuously improve myself, and it is an achievement I have worked hard to attain. My goals have not changed over my time in the MAED.
Beyond the GPA, another critical goal has been to enhance my teaching methods and expand my resources. I believe that as a teacher, it's crucial to stay adaptable and innovative, always seeking ways to engage students more effectively. Throughout my time in the program, I have sought to reflect on my teaching practices and look for areas where I can grow. Whether it's through implementing new instructional strategies or finding resources that better support my students’ diverse learning needs, the education I’ve received at Michigan State has been transformative. The program has given me the tools to think critically about my teaching and approach it with a fresh perspective.
A key part of my development has been learning how to integrate technology thoughtfully into my teaching. In today's digital age, technology can either be a powerful tool for enhancing learning or a distraction if not used effectively. My aim has been to strike the right balance—using technology to enrich the learning experience and foster deeper understanding, while also being mindful of when it may not be appropriate. The courses I’ve taken have helped me develop the skills to integrate technology in meaningful ways, from creating engaging digital lesson plans to using educational software that encourages collaboration and creativity among students. Incorporating technology has allowed me to connect with students in ways that resonate with their daily experiences and make learning more dynamic and interactive.
Receiving my degree from Michigan State University is particularly special to me because it carries a deep personal significance. My mother attended MSU, and following in her footsteps adds a layer of pride to this achievement. The values and traditions of Michigan State have always been a part of my family, and I feel honored to continue that legacy by earning my degree here. This connection makes my journey even more meaningful.
I know that when I walk across the stage in December at The Breslin Center, a place where I grew up watching Tom Izzo coach my favorite MSU basketball teams, I will feel a profound sense of accomplishment. It’s more than just a degree; it’s the culmination of years of hard work, personal growth, and a deep-seated connection to a university that means so much to me. At that moment, I will know I have achieved my goals, and I will carry the lessons I’ve learned with me throughout my teaching career.
