Sight words are words that students should know by "sight" without having to sound them out. They are an important part of first grade.
There are two main sight word lists, the Fry and Dolch lists. In Center Line, we follow the Fry sight words and the goal is to have the first 100 memorized by the end of first grade. Anyone who has mastered the first 100 should move on to the second 100.
You can use the resources on this page to keep practicing the words at home.
This website has word lists, flashcards, lessons, and games to practice the sight words.
These songs follow the Dolch sight word lists, but many of the words are the same and the kids love the videos!
