"A to Z Mysteries" are some of my favorite books. Since we are the Crothers Pandas, every day I will be posting the next chapter of me reading "The Panda Puzzle" by Ron Roy. Listen each day and put the clues together to solve the mystery!
You can bring your partner reading to the next level by not just reading, but also talking about the text. This page shows a variety of strategies that we have worked on this year, and some new ones we have not yet learned.
In class, the kids read with a partner 5-10 minutes a day. We have practiced a lot strategies for working with a partner that can be helpful for reading with your child at home. You can either use these strategies yourself with your child, or if you have multiple children who are able to read, partner them up!
Three ways we have practiced reading are:
Taking Turns: One partner reads a whole book, then the next partner reads a book OR one partner reads a page, then the next partner reads a page.
Echo Reading: One partner reads a sentence, then the other partner repeats it.
Same Time: Read the words at the same time.
When reading a fiction story, have your child retell it by saying what happened at the beginning (B), middle (M), and end (E).
When reading a fiction story with characters, tell how a character feels using the clues above.
