4th Grade Recorders

All 4th Grade Students will learn how to play the recorder during their weekly music class. This is a fun experience that help students learn the some of basic elements of music, including pitch, rhythm and melody. All students will be given their OWN recorder to keep!

Recorder Karate

Students will learn songs from a popular method book entitled Recorder Karate. Colorful ribbons or "belts" are earned when a student can confidently perform a song from the set. This year's set will include:

White Belt Hot Cross Buns
Yellow Belt Au Claire de La Lune
Orange Belt Rolling Merrily
Green Belt Rain, Rain Go Away
Purple Belt Old McDonald Had a Farm
Blue Belt Twinkle Twinkle Little Star*
Red Belt When the Saints Go Marching In*
Brown Belt Amazing Grace*
Black Belt Ode to Joy (Beethoven 9)

The first three songs will be tested together as a group during class. Other songs may be tested individually during class. Must earn 6 belts including Ode to Joy to earn Block FW credit!
