Yes! If accepted, AVID will be a scheduled class during the student’s 7-period school day.
Is AVID all year?
Yes, it is a year-long class
Is AVID a one-year course?
No, students can/should continue to be an AVID student all the way through 12th grade. AVID has a 7-12 curriculum, with progressive instruction as students near high school graduation.
Is AVID a graded class?
Yes, students will receive a letter grade.
What do students get out of the AVID elective?
AVID is a college readiness program that strives to close the opportunity gap for all students through strategies, mentoring, and support. AVID will help you learn more about what it takes to get into college and prepare you for difficulties you’ll experience in school.
Is AVID a remedial class or a class to do homework?
No, AVID is not a remedial class or a class to do homework in. It is a class designed to help you succeed in high school and prepare you for college. AVID has its own curriculum that will provide students with strategies and tools to be successful in high school and college.
