All About Me - 22-23 - Website Version.pdf My name is Saylah Poythress. This is my 8th year teaching and I am excited to be a part of such an amazing school here at Boris Elementary. I attended Maple Creek and Cedarwood Elementary in the Clovis Unified School District. I graduated class of 2010 from Clovis High School. I was passionate about wanting to advocate and work with children, thus I pursued the education field. My high school coach, Rob Brenner, was a big reason I went into the teaching and coaching field. I coach track here on the Boris campus.
I received a full-ride scholarship to run cross-country and track and field at Fresno State. There, I met my husband, Kevin Poythress. We have been married nine years and have a lovely cat named Jeanette! I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors degree in child development. I had the great privilege of being a preschool teacher for a year before ultimately pursuing the elementary level.
I received my multiple-subject teaching credential from Fresno Pacific University in 2018. I recently earned my master of arts in teaching in May 2023. My research project focused on helping my students memorize their multiplication facts. I have always wanted to represent the district that shaped me into who I am today. I am excited to work with you and your child this 2025-2026 school year!
