If you apply for a course that requires an admissions test, you’ll need to check the registration deadline for the test, when you will sit it, and what it includes - as well as the deadline for your UCAS application. This is a useful article!
Many courses that require you to sit a test have a 15 October UCAS application deadline, but your course may be different. To see if your course requires you to sit an admissions test, check the course description in the search tool.
Most admissions tests happen between August and November the year before you're due to start your studies – some even earlier, and before you’ve sent your UCAS application! If you don't sit the test on time, you will not be able to apply for the associated course.
Remember to check the date of your admissions test – some take place before the UCAS application deadline. For further information, click the link: https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/applying-university/admissions-tests
WHEN TO TAKE STEP?
For those of you querying how you apply to "STEP".... A student would only take STEP once they had applied to the University and had been made the offer of a place. Any STEP requirements would be made as part of the offer, and the student would then only take STEP as directed in the offer.
