Here some details about grading and assignments for different subjects.

Math: At Lexington, we use the GoMath series. At the end of each chapter, there will be a chapter test. There will also be math quizzes every week on math facts to improve math fluency. The children are expected to practice math facts at home.

Language Arts: I will be taking some writing grades. The third grade will also be using the Houghton Mifflin English series to teach basic skills. There will be a test at the end of each English unit. Reading assignments will be given in class after reading a variety of materials. Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes a night at home.

Science/Social Studies: The third-grade teachers alternate these subjects. Students will complete assignments in class. At the end of each unit, there will be a test. Occasionally, there will be a home project such as making a poster or a diorama assigned.

Please check your child’s green take-home folder every night for papers. Please return anything that is on the return side of the folder.
