Test Expectations and Homework
Math: Students will complete math assignments in class and they will have some evening homework. Students will be expected to practice math facts at home every night. At the end of each math topic, there will be a test. Students will have study materials in advance and will be expected to study at home.
Language Arts: Reading and writing assignments will be completed daily in class. Many of these assignments will be used for instruction and practice, but some will be graded. Students will be expected to read 20 minutes at home each night.
Spelling: Students will have a new spelling list each week. Students are expected to study their list at home throughout the week for their test. Lists will come home with students on Thursdays and the test will fall on the following Thursday. These words are from our Grade 3 Fundations instruction.
Science/Social Studies: Students will complete assignments in class. Students will occasionally have a project to complete at home and tests to prepare for. We will alternate social studies and science units. The rigor of these assessments will require additional efforts to study at home during the unit.
As a partner in your child’s education, please check your child’s take-home folder every night for important papers particularly paying attention to their agenda sheet every night for assignments and upcoming tests to prepare for. Please review any work your child may have struggled with during the week.
Please sign their agenda sheet each night, if you are able.
