SCI401A provides an opportunity for students to develop scientific literacy as defined by the four identified foundations: Nature of Science, Procedural Knowledge, Content Knowledge, and Decisions and Perspectives. Content remains an integral part of this course, viewed as the context through which science is learned, helping connect concepts to real-world applications. The content knowledge topics identified as context for Science 401 include: • Cells and Infectious Disease (life science); • Climate Change and Energy Transformation (earth and space science); • Everyday Chemical Reactions (physical science); and • Motion (physical science).
