I am an educator, a mother of three, a professional musician, and a coffee enthusiast. After completing my Bachelor of Science (Honours Psychology/Biology) and playing varsity soccer at UPEI, I pursued a Bachelor of Education with a focus on the middle years. I began my teaching career at Bluefield High School and then gained my "tiger stripes" 8 years later. This year, I am teaching grade 7 math, science, and skills development at Stonepark Intermediate.
This year, we will cover a variety of topics. Due to Covid-19, we are following the Grade 7 Math Curriculum with revised sequencing and pacing, as directed by the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning.
Shape & Space Outcome 4: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to plot points on the Cartesian plane.
Number Outcome 6: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to add and subtract integers.
Number Outcome 7: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to put positive numbers, decimals, and whole numbers in order (ascending and descending).
Number Outcome 5: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers.
Patterns & Relations Outcome 7: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to model and solve problems using equations.
Statistics & Probability Outcome 4: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to express probabilities as ratios, fractions, and percents.
Shape & Space Outcome 1: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to understand circles and be able to:
show how radius, diameter and circumference are all related to one another;
show how circumference and π are related to each other;
figure out the total of all the central angles of a circle added together;
make a circle that has a specific radius or diameter (with and without a compass);
solve math problems that involve radii, diameters, and circumferences of circles
Shape & Space Outcome 2: By the end of grade 7, students will be able to make and use formulas to find areas for the following: triangles, parallelograms, and circles.
