-Read 15 minutes daily
-Math Homework:
Students will be sent home on Monday with Math homework for the week. There is a little bit to do each night, and this will be due on Friday. I have told the kids that they can do the assigned amount nightly, or they may want to sit down and do it all on one night so that they have none the rest of the week, break it up into 2 nights, etc. It does not matter to me how they do it, it is whatever suits their busy schedules best. My only expectation is that it is passed in by Friday morning, completed. The assigned homework should be mostly review for the students, extra practice for things that we have already learned. I do not expect parents to have to do the "teaching". If there are concepts where you feel your student is completely "lost" and has no idea what to do, please send me a quick note.
-Word Work:
In the coming weeks, students will be sent home with a list of words to practice spelling daily. They will get the words on Monday, and will be quizzed on them on Friday. We will work with these words daily in class.
-Multiplication Tables:
It is a GREAT idea to help your student practice a table of multiplication each night. I suggest you choose a table (ex: 5x tables) and work on it for the week. Have your student write them out one night, the next night you can ask the facts and have your student tell you the answer, etc. Memorizing the facts is going to be a great way to help stay on top of things in Math!
-Extra work:
"In Class work" usually stays "in class" BUT the odd time, your student may take home some work to finish up. This may be because most of the class has moved on, and I can't allow any more in class time to finish, or that your student was not using their time wisely in class and didn't get enough completed. If this is the case, they will come home with a note explaining why they need to finish at home, and how much I expect to get done (how much I would've expected them to complete in class)
HOMEWORK BAGS:
Please check your students agendas nightly! I ask that you sign your student's homework book each night to tell me that the work was completed. This is also how I will send home important notes and information. You can also use the agenda to send me any notes, as I check them every morning. (Example: after school arrangements, early pick ups, appointments, etc.)
If you ever have any issues or concerns with homework, please feel free to reach out to me!
