We had a substitute teacher on Monday, so on Tuesday we shared some of the kind things that we did while Mrs. Pilling was away.
One of our friends brought in a matching game that he wanted to share with the class. We had time during our free play time, so we were able to play it together!
We had so much fun getting outside and exploring nature. We noticed that you can see a lot of things with a magnifying glass that you can't usually see.
Then, we did an "I see... I think... I wonder..." where we talked about things we could see, then what we thought, then what we wonder. For example, "I see a tree with a broken branch. I think it broke in the wind. I wonder how tall the tree would be if it didnt break." This had been leading to lots of wonderings, which we are going to investigate in the weeks to come.
We have been exploring pattern blocks to make pictures, build, sort, and compare!
We practiced showing numbers in different ways, such as with stickers, bingo markers, and drawing. With our partner, we rotated through the different stations, and had to make the number that we rolled on the dice. This helped us with practicing our math, but also with teamwork, listening, and transitioning quiety from one table to the next.
We have been playing some new games with our friends, including chutes & ladders, and matching games.
We borrowed some more books from the library, and then we got to read them to our book buddies! Our library books are going to continue to stay in the classroom for now, so we can read them with each other throughout the day.
We talked about what it means to be thankful, and we did a drawing and writing activity about what we are thankful for. Many children said that they were thankful for their families, friends, teachers, and pets!
