Toys/ Games: These items are discouraged from being brought to school unless it is a special occasion (i.e. video games, tablets, dolls, LOLs, trading cards (eg. hockey or Pokemon) or collectibles. It is very difficult for staff to prevent items such as these from becoming lost, stolen, or broken. In addition, they often become a distraction in class. Lots of free time activities are made available to use inside the classroom and out. Student cell phones, electrical devices, smart phones/devices are currently prohibited as per school and board policies. They will be confiscated during school hours if this policy is not obeyed.
Juice: Please refrain from sending sugary drinks with your child’s snacks. One naturally concentrated juice box should be sufficient for the day at snack or lunch. As you know, milk and water are readily available at the school every day and are healthier options. Healthy snacks and nutrition policy supports bringing a refillable bottle of water to school to keep hydrated throughout the day. Pop, sports drinks (Gatorade/ Powerade/ Prime) and excessive, large sugary bottles of juice will not be allowed in the classroom with meals and snacks.
Change of Dismissal: If your child is to travel home in a way other than the usual, or is to leave early for an appointment, please call the office or send a note into me in the morning with your child. Please ensure that your child knows and understands the change in plans for the day. We also request that if your child needs to leave during school hours, we expect that you call the office directly to make arrangements and follow their protocols for pick up. Children must also be picked up no later than 2:45.
