WELCOME!
Hi, my name is Ms. Daun.
I love all kinds of sports and activities! Some of my favorite are cross country running, paddling, skiing, hiking, swimming, and cycling. I really enjoy watching kids find their passion in sports and try new activities. I also like playing board games with my family, painting and cooking. I am vegetarian so yes....I like broccoli and salads!
You will be notified when you will need to access this site. Until then, great job for finding me!
HOW TO BE IN TOUCH
If you ever need to contact me please do not hesitate. The easiest way to be in touch would be to email me at dalynch@edu.pe.ca. Then we can make a plan to meet through google meet or by phone. My office hours for checking email will be Monday-Friday from 9:05-3:10. I will do my best to contact you back as soon as possible.
MORE INFORMATION - WHAT TO KNOW & HOW THIS WORKS
As we move forward into this form of teaching and learning let's all remember to be patient and kind to each other.
I will post 2-3 activity sessions a week for you to access and do when it fits your schedule. Remember to have water close by if you can for your child. Your child can wear shoes or socks or just bare feet, whatever is safe and feels good for them. If going outside they might want to put on appropriate outdoor wear. I suggest making sure the space is safe for your child to move around a bit (i.e. breakable items maybe should be moved). Feel free to pause videos at any time. Some activities are good for indoors or outdoors or both.
Let's be mindful that anything can change and that we will all try to adapt accordingly. This being said, if something does not work for your child or your space just do your best, these are only my suggestions. The sessions may be in the format of a video of me doing activities that your child can join, another video that provides activities or written instructions for an activity I have left for your child to try inside or outside. I hope that parents and guardians will help introduce the activity but then the child can do it fairly independently....as I tell the students everyday...let's just try! Each session will be about 20-30 minutes. I will list some items that may be required for the activity and hopefully your child can find something in the home or around the home to use. I am here to answer any questions and support you along this online learning journey! Let's give it a go!

Jump over snow piles
Throw a snow ball over a snow pile or into a snow holes
Jump over snow holes
Walk on a balance board or thin pile of snow.
Toss a stuffy into a laundry basket.
Run while balancing a snow ball/stuffy on your head.
Jump over or onto sofa cushions
PLEASE NOTE:
LAST WEEK I WANTED YOUR CHILD TO SEE ME AND KNOW THAT ALL OF US TEACHERS (INCLUDING SPECIALISTS) ARE HERE FOR THEM, THINKING OF THEM, AND STILL WANT THEM WORKING ON ALL PARTS OF THEIR SCHOOL CURRICULUM. HERE IS MY OTHER SUGGESTION FOR THE REST OF MY CLASSES: IF YOUR CHILD IS PLAYING OUTSIDE AND HAVING A GREAT TIME, LET THEM ENJOY THAT MOVEMENT (BUIDLING WITH SNOW, SLEDDING, NEIGHBOURHOOD WALKS, SKATING, SKIING, SNOWSHOEING, ETC) THEY ARE MOVING THEIR BODY, PRACTICING SKILLS AND LEARNING SO MUCH THAT IS VERY VALUABLE TO THEIR DEVELOPMENT. IF THEY ARE MOVING WITH OTHERS OR THEMSELVES WHILE DOING ANOTHER ACTIVITY AND HAPPY AND GETTING RID OF SOME ENERGY, PLEASE KNOW I TOTALLY SUPPORT THIS. I CAN GUARANTEE SOME KIND OF SKILL IS BEING PRACTICED WHETHER IT IS BALANCE, LOCOMOTOR, OR MANIPULATIVE. OBVIOUSLY, EVENTUALLY THEY WILL NEED TO STOP TO EAT, REST , ETC. MY ACTIVITIES ARE HERE FOR THEM TO USE BUT THE NATURAL PLAY OF A CHILD ESPECIALLY OUTDOORS IS IMPORTANT AND I WOULD NOT WANT TO INTERRUPT THAT FLOW. SO PLEASE TAKE THIS SUGGESTION FOR ALL OF MY CLASSES. THEIR ENGAGEMENT IN THE MOVEMENT IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT.

CLASS 1
Today I am challenging you with some agility challenges! The video has a warm up using the same exercises we have been practicing, then how to set up your agility space at home, the agility activities and a cool down. I am also challenging your child to make their own challenges throughout the class. Your child can watch the video and pause when they need to make their agility ladder or set up the next activity. You can even try these challenges outside on the snow!
If you don't have tape just put the pieces of paper on the floor and if the pieces move that's ok put them back. You could use pencils, straws, or spoons too if you need something to jump over.
Step 2: Time to do Agility Fun!
Now time for the class. You should have your ladder set up to do this. Try making up your own agility challenges after and send them to me! Not to worry if you don't have a chance to send them.
CLASS 2
For today's class I thought it might be fun to try a dance called Flamenco. This is one of my favorite dances because it's all about clapping and stomping! The first site gives you some ideas for what this is all about but you cannot see the person's legs so I thought the second video might help get a better idea of what it looks like. I have a Spanish song for you to try out your own dancing to. Maybe lower your screen so you can't see the video and you can really get into your dancing! Stomp and clap away!
Basics of Flamenco: https://www.allaroundthisworld.com/learn/western-europe-and-the-nordic-countries-2/spain/spain-flamenco/#.YdtVSPnMJPY

A song to try your Flamenco dancing (parents and guardians: this video has three people (two on guitar and one drummer) who are playing their instruments . Feel free to search for others too!

WEEK of jan 24 classes 1, 2 and 3- show your stuff! - showcase is cancelled on friday
These are to be done anytime this week if or when you can and in any order.
This week we will be doing a showcase on Friday to celebrate Winter Wellness Day! I only have 2 classes of activities for you this week because I want you to practice (and practice and practice!) what you might show. Class 3 is for that practice time or use anytime to practice! This showcase is not mandatory so you do not have to participate but you can join to watch your classmates! Please see the details for the LM Physical Education Showcase down in "Class 3" of this week.
CLASS 1
For today's class we are going to do some more agility challenges. Pause after I show you what you need for the activities and how to set up your equipment. Once you are ready then you can follow along. I hope you think of some different ways to move around today! An extra challenge might be to try this activity outside?! What possibly could you use instead of the cups?? It's white, cold and sometimes fluffy....Have fun!
CLASS 2
Below I have left you a choice board for your movement today! Pick a warm up, activity and cool down OR try all of them! Remember to take breaks for water!
CLASS 3
showcase cancelled on friday - Invitation to lm's physical education showcase
LM's Physical Education Showcase TO CELEBRATE WINTER WELLNESS DAY
I am inviting any student in my classes who would like to showcase their physical activity skills to their class on Friday, January 28th (time to be announced in an email later)! This could be in the form of a pre-recorded video or a live performance on a google meet. Please keep performances to about 1-2 minutes. Some ideas of performances could include: showing an obstacle course your child has made, doing all the warm up activities from this month on their own, showing a new agility challenge or trick with a stuffy, performing a dance, showing a fort they made outside. I am sure there are lots of other ideas! I cannot wait to see them!
Remember this is not mandatory so your child does not have to participate but will be invited to watch and be part of the audience. We will have the showcase in the form of a google meet and the link will be sent after Wednesday to everyone so all students can come and watch even if they choose not to perform. Please email me by Wednesday, January 26th if your child would like to perform. Please include their name, class, general idea of what they are doing and the name that appears on the screen if it is not their name ( I will not admit people to the meet unless I know who they are, thanks for understanding).
I would like to keep all microphones off during the showcase except for the performers and myself, the host. I will have to mute microphones if they are on in respect of the performer. As it is lovely to clap after someone performs, it might be tricky when we are muted so we are going to try doing really enthusiastic jazz hands (see my video for what that looks like).
Let's keep this fun! I cannot wait to see friends "showing their stuff"! Your child is invited to dress up if they like to add to their performance!
When: Friday, January 28th. Please send me an email by Wednesday, January 26 if your child is interested in performing at dalynch@edu.pe.ca
Time: To be announced but it will not interfere with other class google meets. Your child's class will have their own Showcase time. I will send the google meet link by email on Thursday.
Where: Google Meet. Link will be given once I know how many students are participating. This link will only be for the student's of the class.
we are going back!! see you all on monday, january 31!! - let's move together!
Don't forget tomorrow is winter wellness day. here's a video of a friend of yours!
Friends, can you guess who this classmate is of yours?? Look at her go!! Hopefully all of you have a moment in the day to do something kind for yourself which might be going outside and playing in the snow!!
