Frequently asked questions:
What does the money from vendor sales, admissions, trees, wreaths, and the canteen go towards?
A: Students earn an hourly wage based on 90% total sales, minus the total overhead. A 10% portion is donated back to the music department to help cover the costs of trips for students in financial need, as well as enrichment activities for the music students.
I have a problem during the craft fair, who should I see?
A: Start with either the registrar or the president. They should be able to help you out.
How many people typically go to the craft fair?
A: We typically have 5000-6000 paying patrons over the course of 2 days. Children are free, so we do not track how many children attend.
When can I get into the school on the Friday of the craft fair?
A: Vendors can only enter the school at 3:30pm on the Friday of the Craft Fair.
That's not a lot of time to set up! (2hrs)
A: We have student workers to help! Just ask a volunteer to help you out.
All the students are wearing the same uniform, how do I know their job?
A: Just ask them and they'll let you know.
The live music is too loud!
A: Sometimes it is, sorry! We're not trying to be too loud, but young musicians are trying their best to share their talents. Please give them grace. We are a bustling music department and we're learning lots about performance, and sometimes that means learning about acoustics in real time.
What does the hospitality room provide for vendors?
A: Just look for our hospitality workers. They will happily deliver you complimentary tea, coffee, something sweet, or some water.
How come the students do not handle issues for vendors?
A: The students handle jobs such as parking, hospitality, the canteen, trees, wreaths, music, set up, and tear down. Adults work directly with the vendors.
Where should I park?
A: While you should unload at Colonel Gray, but please do not park there. The more we can empty our parking lots, the more space we have for our patrons.
Why was my spot moved?
A: We are trying to accommodate a lot of requests and trying to make it the best experience for everyone. Requests such as access to electricity, walls, preferred spots, and the type of product impact our decision making. Please allow us to juggle this with everyone's concerns in mind. Complaints will be noted but not necessarily accommodated.
Can I sell products made by large companies?
A: No, we only allow local artisans. A broad term to use, but it simply means the product must be produced by the individual(s).
Can I sell trees or wreaths at the fair?
A: No, sorry. We have long established relationships with our suppliers.
I sent an email, but did not get a response.
A: This is a volunteer organization and the registrar will do their best to get back to you in a reasonable time frame. If it is an urgent matter, please contact the music department at 902-368-6860 ext. 249. Otherwise, please be patient.
The Facebook/Twitter/Social Media admin did not know the answer to my question.
A: They only handle promotion, not registration or logistics. Those are different positions. Please contact the registrar for all vendor inquires.
How do I get on your waiting list?
A: Just email the registrar.
NOTE: Please keep in mind this is a volunteer organization for musical enrichment. Any abusive language, whether it be in person or online, will not be tolerated. If any teacher, parent, or student is talked to in person or online in a rude manner, the vendor will no longer be welcome at our craft fair and will be asked to leave immediately. Proper decorum is our policy. If a vendor has an issue, they will politely bring the concern to an adult, the president, or the registrar.
