Hi Families,
I hope you all had a great weekend! Thank you to those who signed and brought back the permission form for our end of year field trip to Shining Waters! We are all looking forward to this fun outing. If you would like to volunteer, please reach out to me.
It has been an exciting week in 2E as our butterflies have emerged from their chrysalis! It is so neat to watch these creatures transform. We have a total of 10 butterflies and two still left to emerg.
June 11th - We will be going on a tour of Stratford Elementary. This is a great way for students to get a feel for the school and know what to expect and where they will be going next year in grade 3.
This will be our last week for homework! If your child would like to continue reading that is wonderful. I can provide books if needed, just reach out.
SCIENCE FUN
Beginning on Monday, June 9th, each student will be asked to present an experiment to the class. I sent home a calendar with your child stating which day they will present so that you have some time to explore some ideas. The children will have the opportunity to be presenters and also to be a good audience to their peers while meeting some science outcomes for grade two. There are lots of great child friendly ideas online. If anyone would like help with this, just let me know. We are excited about this project!!
We are fresh into these projects but the kids are loving it! Thank you for your support in helping them get these experiments ready for school!

Hi Families,
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Our class caterpillars arrived last Friday and there has been lots of excitement! They are currently in stage 3 (the caterpillar phase) and we have observed them eating their food and producing brown/yellow balls called frass, along with some webbing. The kids are very interested in this project! We are eager to continue to watch and observe them morph into a butterfly.

Hi Families,
I hope you all had a great weekend! Last week a green slip should have went home with your child to access their spring photos. If you would like to order any you do so through this site.
This week we will be having French week at Glen Stewart. The students will be listening to a French song each day and learning some French words. On Wednesday the home and school will be providing croissants for the students. On Thursday we will get to see a concert by Michael Pendergast which we are looking forward to it! Also, a reminder that there is no school on Friday April 11 due to the PD Day.
*Note - Last week I played an April Fools joke on our class. I told them that I was moving to Florida to become a Dolphin trainer and their new teacher, Mrs. Pufferhagle, was starting the next day. Well... everyone except for one student believed it (it was quite funny). Even after telling them it was an April Fools some of them still think I am moving to become a Dolphin trainer. I feel the need to clarify that I will be teaching your children until the end of the school year!!
Easter Seals- Our Easter Seals visit will happen on April 23rd at 8:40 am in the gym. We will be doing a couple of fundraisers to help raise funds for Easter Seals.
Thursday April 17th- Ice Cream sale (Stay tuned for more details).

We are supposed to be going on our field trip to the Stratford Library Wednesday afternoon as long as the weather cooperates! If you have not sent back the signed permission slip please do so tomorrow. We will be walking to the library, so please make sure your child has proper outdoor gear - hats, mitts, snow pants, winter boots.
On Friday February 21 we will be having Winter Wellness Day at school. We will be doing sledding, outdoor orienteering and some fun indoor activities as well. Unfortunately due to the weather on Friday, we did not make it on our feild trip to the Stratford Library. However, we took the children outside to play in the snow in the afternoon and they had a blast! We were hoping to go on our field trip later this week, but the staff member at the library in charge of this is out all week. We will reschedule sometime next week when she returns and I will confirm our day when we find out. The permission slips that you already signed are still good for our rescheduled date.
