*Allergies: Due to severe allergies the following items are not permitted. Please make sure to check your packaged foods:
1. All nuts or products containing or nuts AND products that mimic nut-based products (such as Wow Butter).
2. All Shellfish and Seafood.
*Google Site: I will be using this Google Site as my primary source of communicating with you as a group so please make sure you check it regularly. I will most often be adding information to the page labelled Updates.
*Homework bags (les pochettes): These will travel back and forth between home and school every day. Please check these for notes, forms, etc. every evening and put any notes for me in here as I check them every morning. I will be asking students to place any notes on top of their homework bags in the morning so please make your child aware if you are sending a note with them.
*Extra clothing: Please send a labelled bag with a full change of extra clothing (socks and underwear included) for your child. This can either stay at school or in their backpack.
*Water bottle: Please send a filled water bottle with your child daily as we do not have access to water fountains this year. We do have a water bottle filling station should your child need more water later in the day.
*Drop off: We start learning at 8:30 every morning. If you are dropping your child off, please have them here in lots of time. They will exit the car in the drop off loop where there will be a staff member to assist them if needed. Please let them out of the car close to the metal barriers near the exit area of the drop off loop. Parents are not permitted in the staff parking area.
*Pick up: Parents who are picking up at the end of the day are asked to wait by the staff parking lot fence. I will take your child to you after I drop off the students to their busses. Dismissal is at 2:30.
If your child attends an after-school program that has a meeting/pick up area at the school, please call them if your child is absent from school that day.
*Late Arrival/Early Departure: If you must drop your child off after the start of the day or pick them up early (for an appointment, etc.) please call the Main Office when you are here.
*Bus notes: We will not be able to accommodate students travelling on alternate busses this year so it is important that your child has a consistent after-school plan.
*Breakfast Program: This will be happening in the classroom this year. Start date TBD.
*Hot Lunch Program: There are two different lunch programs this year – our regular one from previous years and this year the province has added one. Both have already begun. If you have any questions on how to get registered, please contact the main office.
*Medication protocol: if your child requires medication and I need to administer it, a form needs to be filled out from the office before I am able to do so. If you send a pre-measured dose (ex. in a syringe) and your child is able to take it themselves, I am able to give a reminder without the form.
*Practicing fire drills, lockdown drills, evacuation drills: Over the next few weeks we will be practicing these drills. We had our first two fire drills already and they went great!
*Homework: We won’t be starting any homework until October. I will send information regarding this closer to that time.
*Toys from home: We are asking that students keep all non-essential items at home for the time being (this includes mini-sticks and other recess toys/games). If they take it to their after-school program, I just ask that it stays in their backpack for the school day.
*Oral language: We are very aware that many of our students have not had the opportunity to practice their French over the past ~6 months and have definitely adjusted our expectations for this. We are playing lots of games where we are practicing speaking French and we will slowly start expecting them to speak more and more French as we get going.
